I keep meaning to take it easy – specially now I’ve retired, but it seems to me I have even more to do than ever.
I used to hope for the time when I would have endless lazy days, get up at noon, loaf around in my pajamas, watch TV or surf to my hearts content.
But it’s not like that at all!
I am inundated with work, I am suddenly running an untold number of blogs, I have people to meet, calls to make, chores to do, research to manage, designs to perfect –
And massive amounts of writing and editing to finish – I am busier now than I ever was.
How does this happen – well, I have a theory.
There are so many things I have promised myself, (we all do this) so many projects I’ve been dying to start on or to finish, so much research I meant to get round to, so many interesting things I have always wanted to do – and now I finally have time.
It’s like a tidal wave – getting it all done – doing everything, yet it is not tiring or stressful in any way – it’s like surfing – like skydiving, so exhilarating, so exiting, so all consuming
It’s because this is what I want to do, what I have always wanted to do that it is frictionless, blissful work. My manuscripts, my novels, my books, my blogs.
how lucky I am to have found this – and to be able to do this now, before I drop dead – I still have time
I can still do so much – it’s delightful
My advice to you is -yes you need to work – there must be a roof over your head and bread on the table – but if you can sail as close as you can to what you love with that – great – and as a hobby – if there is no other way – hone your skills, enjoy it – and know – that if not before, then when you retire – this need, this impetus, this vacation will spill forth
It feels great!
get on with it – somehow, somewhere – it will come right.
