Training

The trick is
to keep moving once you are moving

the trick is
to catch that moment, that thought,
when the impulse to move pops into your mind
to actually move, right at that moment
breaking the power of the screen

before the flickering movement lulls you back into inertia.
Into sleep
Most people do not mean to be lazy couch potatoes – I know I don’t
I’ve got to the point where we don’t have a couch or a sofa or even a settee
We don’t have armchairs or loungers or easy chairs
There is nothing overstuffed in the house, we have no antimacassars, or even one macassar for that matter
(whatever they are)

We do have some comfy cushions – but we like to be active.
We know the trick to it.
When we can tear ourselves away from the screen, the keyboard, the ever moving hypnotic picture
The endless streams of infotainment
We can get ourselves out there – and we feel great.

Go training – it beats the screen every time – they say that 80% is just showing up – and it is – once you get to the gym all is well – your mind changes itself and you beat that inertia
the power of the screen is broken

shattered

Then – Gosh!
There’s a whole world out there which does not consist of screens or keyboards or infotainment
which is much more interesting, informative and entertaining than any screen

Oddly enough, puzzling as it is – being out there turns into – dare I say it – exercise
You might feel compelled to potter round the garden
or put away a few things that are lying around
walk a few yards to look at the view
or even pick up your sports bag and get as far as the gym.

Once I start it is always great
Not exhausting as my mind tries to tell me – but energising
Not hard – but good,
The resentful laziness and not really wanting to – dissolves into happy challenges
Which actually are really fun- and
there is – Gosh – How amazing – Social interaction – who’d have thought!
With real people saying real things in unpredictable 3D real life

the trick is –
