You get them every now and then
Those days that just don’t fit
When you are ready to be so efficient – have such good plans –
and quite literally everything, yes, everything, goes wrong.
You step out after sleeping through the alarm, barely on time, dragging your jacket on, jump into the car and zip of to work – as you get to the first red light you remember you’ve left your lunchbox in the kitchen.
You park further away than you want to, and hope to be able to arrive on time only to step in dog shit and nearly slip. Fuming and swearing you try to scape it off your shoe as the minutes tick away.
The receptionist is not at the desk but you follow the signs to the office you need anyway – taking the stairs as the lift is out of order – and arrive panting on the third floor and find the right door.
You take a moment to calm down and are then told by a passing worker that your meeting has only just called in sick and can they reschedule?
You go into silent-hate mode
smile politely and make a new appointment before leaving.
You throw your briefcase into the back of the car where it flips open and your papers spread themselves out all over the floor between the seats- you swear and leave them there – sliding into your seat you adjust the mirror only to see you have a smear of soot on your nose – where did that come from! No wonder people were looking at you oddly.
THOSE kinds of days
When you really, REALLY wish you’d stayed in bed and had the sense to call in sick
hide under the covers and refuse to start the day at all.
I hope, for you it is NOT one of those days
I also hope this for me.
